Employers can have a difficult time keeping their employees engaged and productive. In fact, companies spend over $720 million dollars a year on employee engagement and that number is projected to increase during the coming years (LaMotte, Harvard Business Review).
Managers are often left frustrated when they see their subordinates slip back into apathetic behavioral patterns such as being late to work, not calling out with proper notice, and "pointing out." The problem of employee accountability is further complicated in certain workplaces that have high turnover rates such as call centers.
